What is nominal thickness?
Nominal thickness is “in name only” used solely for identification. The nominal size may not match any dimension of the product, but within the domain of that product. The nominal size may correspond to a large number of highly standardized dimensions and tolerances. In the case of laminated glass the actual thickness of the glass is different because of the variable thickness of the inter-layer. Actual thickness of the glass can range between 1/32″ to 1/16″ depending on the nominal thickness.
